Playdate with Jonah ♥ Murfreesboro Toddler Photographer
November 22, 2009 | Filed Under Toddler, contest | 5 Comments
I met up with the winner of the Little Spooks Contest last week - you may remember him as “Indiana Jonah”. I do believe that his costume was telling, because I got a real workout keeping up with him (or trying to!) as he “explored” the grounds at Oaklands Mansion. Jonah has such an infectious grin and beautiful brown eyes… a complete doll to capture. Here are my favorites from our mini-session. Which would you pick as the winning 16×20 wall portrait??

I had so much fun with the original contest, I decided to bring it back this year!
You may enter your child by submitting one non-professional photo (color or B/W) via email to courtney@courtneymarler.com
Submissions will be received NOW - November 1. Once all submissions are in, each photo will be posted on the blog. Please note that I will not use your child’s last name on the blog. Most likely I will reference them by their first or ‘costume’ name. Be sure to send your friends and family to vote! Only one vote per person, plese!
If you have friends who would be interested in entering the contest, please direct them to this blog for more information. The more, the merrier!
Finn & Libby | Franklin, TN Toddler/Child Session

I first captured little man Finn about a year ago, when he was 7 months old. Last time, he was sitting up in one spot or being held by his mama and daddy most of the time. He even took a little catnap while I was there. Let me just tell you how much a year changes things.
He has since learned to walk… no, make that RUN… and I did my best to keep up!! Big sister Libby recently turned 5 and I was able to capture her this time around, too. One thing that has not changed is how lovely this family is.
Fran - hope you enjoy your sneak peek! Sorry to keep you in suspense.

Elyssa… a year later | Hermitage, TN Baby Session

And what a difference a year makes! She was 2 weeks old here:

And just look at her now!

She’ll celebrate her first birthday surrounded by LOTS of friends and family next weekend. It’s so hard to believe that a whole year has passed!! Elyssa is part of a wonderful family - her mommy and daddy are so in love with her, and they are such amazing parents. Thanks to you both for allowing me to do what I love, and capture your baby girl during her first year.
Here’s another favorite of mine… so symbolic of her life at this stage. Venturing out from mom and dad just a little bit, gaining a little bit of independence every day.

Happy Birthday, Elyssa!! Love, Ms. Courtney

Only babies can make rolls like this look good.
I’ve captured this sweet baby girl twice now… once as a newborn and again today at 5 months. With her full cheeks, bright eyes, adorable rolls and sweet grins, she is just as cute as ever.
I also had the pleasure today of capturing a few with big sister, Anneliese. She is destined to be on a stage of some sort - bubbly, talkative with lots of dramatic hand motions, energetic and, of course, beautiful. We slipped off to her bedroom while Mommy fed baby sister, and I got THIS:

Thanks again F. for having me over this morning to capture your two lovelies. I’m honored that I get to capture Coralyn’s first year in portraits.
I love my job!
A Date with Addie Kate | Columbia, TN Newborn Session

This precious baby girl was amazing for me this morning. I captured her at 23 days old, and she pretty much put all of my “younger” newborns to shame. =) She slept right from the start of the session and made hardly a peep throughout the duration. She put up with much adjusting, touching and moving from me… and a little from proud big brother, Knox! A special thanks to her mom for wanting me to capture her newborn portraits… it was wonderful meeting your sweet family. Here are a couple of quick favorites from today…

Curly Q | Mount Juliet, TN Toddler Session

I’ve photographed this little man 3 times during the course of his first year… and he gets cuter each and every time! The curls, the dimples… I could just eat him up! We captured him outside in his grandmother’s landscape - and it was nothing short of A-MA-ZING. Truly one of the most beautifully landscaped homes I’ve ever seen. Just wanted to share a little sneak peek for his mama… hope this makes your Monday morning a little brighter! =)

E is for Eliza | Nashville, TN Toddler Session

Does this face look familiar? Meet Eliza - the winner of my Little Spooks Halloween Contest. I met up with her and her mommy for a couple of hours this morning at Cheekwood. Isn’t she beautiful? She kept herself very busy at the beginning of the session “dead-heading” the flowers. Cheekwood sends their thanks for your help, Eliza! We found a little shed at the very end of our time together, where I captured these images… I think little Miss might have saved the best for last.
I hope you enjoy your sneak peek, Ashley…

Fall Fun | Sewanee, TN Child Session
October 27, 2007 | Filed Under Child, Toddler | 7 Comments
We took a road trip to the gorgeous campus of the University of the South in Sewanee for this photo session. It started out overcast in Murfreesboro when we headed out, but nothing too bad to deal with, right? Seven miles before our exit… still, no change… but maybe the sun will break though any minute. THEN we hit the Sewanee exit and it was pure fog… visibility only far enough to see the icy breath exit your mouth. No joke. BUT, we didn’t let that stop us. Plans had been made, cute coordinating clothing had been purchased, and we’d ridden in a van for an hour. That’s right… no turning back.
Here is just a tiny sneak peek for mom before bed. You’ll see the rest soon, friend… I promise.
