Long Distance Baby ♥ Murfreesboro, TN Baby Photographer

March 11, 2009 | Filed Under Baby, Uncategorized | 4 Comments

Baby Ansley holds the record for the farthest distance traveled for a photo session… she and her parents live just outside of Washington, DC! Actually, she didn’t come all this way just to see me, but I am glad that she took time out of her busy schedule during their visit back home to let me capture her 3-month portraits. Here is one of my favorites from today…

and another…

Photos on Display

I am embarrassed to admit this to you, but I don’t have many pictures hanging on my walls. Crazy, right??  I think one of my problems is that I have too many images that I love, and I just don’t know where to start. If I put them all on display, then we would basically wallpaper every wall with pictures. Unless I’m missing out on some new trend, I’m pretty sure that’s not the cutting edge of home decor. :)

I decided to tackle the long empty wall in our kitchen first. I knew I wanted my theme for the wall to be “family”. I also decided on all black and white images because a) I love BW! and b) I wanted the focus to be on the people and relationships in the photos without the competition of a lot of different colors. I designed my layout in Photoshop and set about to the most difficult task of the entire project: picking the photos.

Here is the layout I designed:

And here is the finished product:

I can’t tell you how happy this wall makes me. We enjoy looking at these images every time we eat a meal. It makes the kitchen seem ‘finished’ now that the walls are bare no more, and it makes our house feel like a home.

Do you struggle with how to display your portraits? or do you have wall galleries that even Pottery Barn would envy? :) If you are in the latter category, send me some inspiration photos!

Fall Flashback | Murfreesboro, TN Family Session

November 2, 2008 | Filed Under Uncategorized | 4 Comments

I don’t really do “family sessions”, per se. Yes, I do incorporate family at most every session, but I consider myself much more adept to capture a single subject (specifically babies from birth to age one). However, last year I said “yes” to a family who asked me to photograph them with their beautiful children (then in 4th and 6th grades). It was sort of a test, if you will… and I was quick to tell them that there were no promises as this was unchartered territory for me. :)

I was unable to share the images on the blog last year because they were surprising their families with portraits for Christmas. But with fall in full swing, I wanted to showcase them now. They’re a lovely family, don’t you agree??

This is my new favorite image - and it just happens to be of my newest niece, Jenna Caraline. She was born one week ago today… healthy and perfect in every way. I was super excited to capture her first portraits at just 3 days old, while she is still so fresh and tiny. I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of her as she grows :)

And here she is with proud big sister, Emma Kate -

Ava @ 6 months | Mount Juliet, TN Baby Session

Check out this sweet little thing… with her big blue eyes and super squeezable cheeks. This is the 2nd time I’ve photographed her (actually the 3rd, if you count me capturing her mommy’s maternity images), and it just tickled me to see how big she has grown since I saw her last at 8 days old. She is the spitting image of her daddy, especially when she smiles. And she has the largest stash of bows I have ever seen! :) Here are a couple of quick favorites from today… K., I can’t wait for you to see the rest of them!
